Stage 3 Groom with Riding is for those looking for a role as a professional rider offering employers the skills to ride and train horses across all three disciplines at a basic level, with horse welfare at the heart of your riding.
Whether looking to become a work rider or to compete and ride professionally, this career certificate shows employers you are a professional in the industry and have the knowledge and practical skills to support them.
This certificate celebrates your skills as a competent and autonomous rider in the industry in addition to the skills required to be a groom. As a BHS Stage 3 Groom and Rider, you will have the skills and knowledge to independently ride a variety of horses on the flat and over fences as well as look after and turn out the horses in your care.
We understand that not all riders wish to pursue a professional riding career within all disciplines. Perhaps you would like to follow our jump or dressage specific routes?:
- BHS Professional Rider Pathway (Dressage) will develop your flatwork and support a career as a dressage rider and trainer
- BHS Professional Rider Pathway (Jump) will develop your jump work and support a career within showjumping and horse trials
Employment as a work rider will allow you to work in a school environment as directed by a trainer, or ride independently to enhance the role of a groom by assisting with the fittening of horses and their preparation for competition.
