Please note:

• You cannot take a stage 5 assessment at a centre you currently work in or have worked in in the last 12 months.
• You cannot take a stage 5 assessment at a centre that you have undertaken training at in the last 6 months.

• A minimum age of 22 years
• BHS Stage 4 Senior Care (Unit 1) and BHS Stage 4 Senior Management (Unit 2)
• BHS Gold member – Membership discounts apply for students who are training for or taking BHS qualifications 

You will be assessed on the following subject matter:

• Feeding and fittness work for a range of horses
• Veterinary, saddlery and practical training skills 
• Static and dynamic assessment of conformation and action for purchase
• Static assessment of conformation of breeding stock
• Static assessment of health, condition and muscle development for potential use
• Management of competition horses to maintain health and condition

You will be assessed on the following learning outcomes:

• Understand how a horse's conformation may affect its potential use and purchase value
• Understand the management of competition horses
• Analyse horses' health, condition and management
• Understand breeding programmes for horses
• Deliver traning to develop staff and/or students

All applicants are encouraged to undertake practical training at a BHS Approved Centre or with a BHS Accredited Professional Coach to ensure you are ready for your assessment.
