Journalism, PR (public relations) and other communications-related roles can be varied and extremely interesting. The main function of a PR role is to generate goodwill for your organisation; the communications department produce messages about the business for both internal and external stakeholders in many different formats; for example, press releases, articles for websites, social media posts, printed media, videos, or other forms of copy as required. If your role is mainly journalism you could be researching your topic one day, to interviewing an equestrian superstar the next or attending an equestrian event the week after. The possibilities are endless!
If visual art is more your thing you might really enjoy pursuing photography or videography. You will more likely be self employed in this role and be contracted by an organisation when needed. Many of the images seen across our website have been kindly supplied by Jon Stroud who is the official photographer for the BHS and British Equestrian Federation. He is often commissioned by the International Equestrian Federation (FEI) to work at the world’s top events, including the Olympic Games, Paralympic Games, World Equestrian Games and Badminton CCI4* Horse Trails. What an amazing job to have!
